The Association for " Rymanow Encounters" is inviting you to its third annual days of remembrance of the jewish society of Rymanow. This event is becoming a constant and highly awaited cultural event in the yearly schedule of our town.
4th Days of Remembrance of Jewish Society of Rymanow – Hasidic Wedding in Rymanow: August 11-13, 2011
1st day – Thursday, August 11, 2011 – Day of Joy and Rejoicing
• 9.30 Opening of 4th Days of Remembrance (in large hall, Jas Wedrowniczek).
• 9.45-10.45 TVP film “Rymanow town – Mein Sztetele, Rymanow”, directed by Andrzej Potocki (in large hall, Jas Wedrowniczek). Meeting with A. Potocki - the director after the film screening.
• 10.45-12.15 Film ”Dybbuk”. Introduction to the film and “A story about a Hasidic wedding”, after a presentation by a research worker of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (in large hall, Jas Wedrowniczek).
• 12.30-15.00 Lunch break.
• 15.30-18.00 Hasidic Wedding in Rymanow. Transportation by hansom cabs from Jas Wedrowniczek to the Rynek, where the Jewish wedding will be staged. After “the wedding” back to Jas Gardens by hansoms – performance and workshop of Hasidic dances, wine and plum brandy tasting.
• 18.30-20.30 Break, concert preparations.
• 20.30-22.30 Mendy Kahan and Olga Mieleszczuk with klezmer band concert. “Concert of Hasidic wedding songs” (in large hall, Jas Wedrowniczek). Tickets available at the hotel.
• 24.00 The end of the First Day of Remembrance.
2nd day – Friday, August 12, 2011 – Day of Reflection and Memories
• 10.00 Ecumenical prayer at the Jewish Cemetery in Rymanow. Earlier – lecture about the Jewish cemetery in Rymanow with workshop for kids and teenagers.
• 11.00 Unveiling of memorial plaque commemorating the Poles who rescued Jews (Catholic Cemetery in Rymanow, main entrance).
• 12.00-16.00 March of Remembrance (Rymanow-Wroblik Szlachecki, railway station).
• 16.00-18.00 Break.
• 18.00-18.30 Day of the open synagogue. Archive recordings of Rymanow cantor Izrael Schorr, who started his career at the Rymanow synagogue – A.Potocki's introduction before the concert .
• 18.30-19.00 Presentation of the idea of commemorating the Rymanow Jews (at the synagogue).
• 19.00-19.30 Evening Sabbath prayers (in the synagogue).
• 19.30-20.30 Break.
• 20.30-22.00 Festive Sabbath dinner (in large hall, Jas Wedrowniczek, closed event).
3rd day – Saturday, August 13, 2011
• 8.30-11.30 Morning Prayers in the Synagogue.
• 13.30-15.00 Historic trail of Rymanow properties. A walking tour of long ago Rymanow with the participation of former Jewish residents. It will be conducted in English and Polish, starting in the parking lot at the Rynek.
• 19.30-20.30 Havdallah Service, saying goodbye to the Sabbath.
